Asura(1970)

Mountains of corpses piled high. A hellish scene where parents devour their own children. I wish I’d never been born—!

Ashura was born into a world of unimaginable famine. Thrown into a fire by his mother before he even knew how to speak, the young Ashura miraculously survived. Filled with hatred for his parents and a curse against the world, he follows his instincts for predation and self-preservation, attacking people one after another like a beast. Eventually, Ashura was imbued with “humanity,” but…!? What exactly is “humanity”!? A work so harrowing and tragic. George Akiyama’s all-out, philosophically shocking masterpiece!
