Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible

AnimeHunt is operated by the operator named here before launch. Contact: info@animehunt.co.

2. What we collect and why

• Account data: email address and a password hash (handled by our authentication provider), username, display name, optional avatar and bio. Needed to run your account.
• Date of birth: used only to decide whether mature covers are blurred for you. It is stored in a private table that only you and our systems can read, is never shown to other users, and is not used for advertising.
• Library data: which titles you track, your status, score, progress, dates and notes. Public by default so others can see your library; you can make your whole library or individual entries private.
• Imports: when you import a list by username we fetch your public list from the other site once and discard the response after processing. Uploaded export files are deleted within 7 days. Titles we could not match are kept with your intended status and score so they can be added to your library later.
• Attestation records: when you submit or claim a series, or set age-related preferences, we record the statement, time, network address, browser identifier and policy version. Kept for legal reasons for up to 24 months after your account is deleted, without your name.
• Takedown notices: kept as legal records.
• Technical data: server logs with network addresses and request details, kept briefly for security and debugging.
• Cookies: a session cookie for sign-in and a preference cookie for the "blur mature covers" setting. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

3. Third-party data in our catalog

Catalog information is derived from the anime-offline-database (ODbL licence) and the AniList API, as credited on our Data Sources page. These sources describe works, not people.

Some links to shops and streaming services are affiliate links that carry a partner tag identifying this site. Clicking one takes you to the merchant, whose own privacy policy then applies. We do not send the merchant your account details, and we do not learn what you buy; the affiliate program reports commissions to us in aggregate.

4. Processors

We use a hosted database and authentication provider (Supabase), a hosting provider for the website, and an email delivery provider for account emails. Each processes data on our instructions.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your data and to object to certain processing. You can edit most data in Settings; for export or deletion contact us from your account email. We respond within 30 days.

6. Children

Accounts are for people 13 and older. If we learn that a younger child created an account we delete it.

7. Retention

Account and library data: until you delete your account. Import files: 7 days. Attestation and takedown records: as stated above. Logs: up to 30 days.

8. International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, under contractual safeguards.

9. Changes

We will announce material changes on the Service before they take effect.
