Find the best anime and manga, no matter who made it.
That is the whole idea behind AnimeHunt. One place to discover, track and recommend, where a series drawn by one person in a bedroom sits next to the season’s biggest studio release and is judged the same way: by whether people love it.
Why this needs to exist
Getting an independent manga or anime in front of readers today still runs through gatekeepers. A magazine has to pick you up, a platform has to accept you, a publisher has to sign you, a licensor has to decide your work travels. Each step is a queue, a contract and a cut, and most of the series that fall out of that funnel were never bad. They were just not convenient. Meanwhile the tools to make a series have never been more accessible, so more good work is being made than ever and less of it is findable.
We think that is a little sad, and fixable. Discovery does not need permission. A catalog can list a series wherever it is hosted, let the creator claim it, and let readers rate it, so the best work rises on its own.
What we do
- One catalog for everything. Tens of thousands of anime and manga from the public databases, plus independent series creators list themselves. Same cards, same ratings, same recommendations.
- Track without lock-in. Import your list from MyAnimeList, AniList, Kitsu or Anime-Planet in a minute, and export it any time.
- Recommendations that explain themselves. “People who liked X also liked Y” and “similar by themes”, never a black box.
- Link out, don’t lock in. We send readers to where a series lives, whether that is a streaming service, a webcomic platform or a creator’s own site. Hosting on AnimeHunt will be optional, never required.
- Honest about how things are made. AI-assisted and AI-generated series are welcome and labelled, so you can filter them in or out.
What we will not do
- No explicit (18+) content, anywhere on the site.
- No listing fees to be found. Discovery stays free for creators.
- No paywall on tracking, basic stats or exporting your own data.
- No scraping of other sites’ users. Your data gets here because you brought it.
Made something? Put it on the map.
If you draw, write or produce a series, you can list it here in a few minutes, keep it hosted wherever you like, and claim it if someone already added it. If you want to help shape the site, the suggestion board is open.
