Content Policy
Draft for legal review. Version 2026-10-01.
This policy covers everything shown on AnimeHunt: catalog entries, covers, descriptions, creator listings, profiles, notes and reviews.
1. Content ratings
Every title carries one of two ratings. Ratings come from our data sources, from creators' self-declarations, and from moderators, who have the final say.
- All ages. No sexual content; at most mild violence. Examples: most slice-of-life, sports and family series; shonen action without gore.
- Mature. Fan service or suggestive content without explicit nudity, strong violence or gore, drug use, horror, self-harm or other intense themes. Examples: seinen action with graphic violence, ecchi comedies, psychological thrillers. Mature covers are blurred by default for visitors who are not signed in or are under 18; any visitor can reveal a single cover, and adults can turn blurring off.
2. Not allowed on AnimeHunt
- Explicit (18+) content. Pornographic material, explicit sexual acts, or sexualized nudity as the primary purpose of a work. Such titles are not listed, cannot be submitted, and are skipped when importing lists from other sites.
- Any sexual depiction of minors or of characters presented as minors, in any medium or style.
- Real-person sexual content without consent.
- Content that is illegal where we operate.
- Covers or thumbnails that would themselves exceed the "mature" rating.
3. Creator declarations
Creators must declare a rating and relevant content warnings when listing a series, and must say how AI was involved in making it ("human-made", "AI-assisted" or "AI-generated"). Misdeclaring either is a policy violation.
4. Enforcement
Depending on severity and history, we may: correct a rating; add warnings; unlist a title; remove a title; freeze an account (creator actions disabled); or suspend an account. Serious violations, especially anything in section 2, lead to immediate suspension.
5. Reporting and appeals
Every title has a "Report a problem" link. Rights holders can use the Takedown page without an account. If we act on your content or account you will be told why, and you may appeal by contacting us; we aim to reply within 14 days.
